England is served by over 9000 local councils who operate under a raft of powers handed down by statute and which are governed by the Local Government Act 1972.
Most of Cheshire is parished but there are still some areas that do not have their own parish council. Information on how to create parishes in unparished areas can be found in this section of the website.
Using the links above you will find a vast array of information about how to become involved in the local council movement and, when there, how to participate fully in their daily business.
Those of you who are already councillors (or clerks) may also find useful information for the governance and management of your council.
