Cheshire East Council is at the early stages of a Community Governance Review of Town and Parish Council Governance (obviously only in the Cheshire East Borough area).

A Community Governance Review Sub-Committee has been set up with Councillor Paul Findlow as the relevant portfolio holder. The senior officer for the review is Brian Reed (Head of Democratic Services and Governance).

It is many years since there has been a review and during that time there has been considerable new development with many of these developments traversing parish boundaries and creating new communities with their own identities.

Local Councils have an important part to play in making sure that the sense of community and identity is captured in the representations to the sub-committee.

The Review itself will be completed in time for the elections in 2023 but it is important that local councils keep up with the progress – check back here for further information.

The web page for the review can be found here.

and the latest from the sub-committee can be found here.
