Planning (development and enforcement) and neighbourhood planning are important subjects for local councils. Although local councils are not the decision makers in planning terms they do play an important part in the process by being the eyes and voice of the local community.

ChALC run regular training sessions aimed at helping local councillors understand the planning process and how to get involved in it more effectively.

Cheshire Community Action provide more specific support for communities wishing to undertake the neighbourhood planning process. Help may also be available from the principal authority in your area.
