Annual Meeting

ChALC Annual Meeting 22nd October 2025

With the kind permission of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster the 2025 Annual Meeting was held at Eaton Park, Chester and attended by 67 delegates representing some 38 councils.

Participants enjoyed an excellent buffet in sumptuous surroundings whilst networking with others and browsing the information stands : -

A competition for participants to visit every stand was carried out. 19 completed forms were submitted and the winner was a representative from Holmes Chapel Parish Council who won 2 free ChALC training sessions (worth £50)

Appointment of Board Members

In accordance with the Constitution, 3 Board members are required to step down in rotation and an election takes place. There were 4 nominees and those present were invited to select up to 3 candidates on the voting slip. 66 valid ballot papers were received and count carried out on 23rd October.

Sue Stanley – 51
John Cornell – 50
Mark Hill – 50
David Gilbert – 29

The successful candidates for 2025 are therefore Sue Stanley, John Cornell and Mark Hill

Setting of Affiliation Fees 2026-27

It was resolved by the meeting that there should be a 2.5% (1p) increase as follows:

  • 40p per elector
  • £40.00 minimum fee
  • £1631.80 maximum fee

Motions

Motions can be submitted at any time from 1st April to the first Friday in July on the MOTION SUBMISSION FORM for consideration at the current year's Annual Meeting. Any Member Council wishing to put forward a motion to the Annual Meeting should ensure that: -

  • They provide details of their council meeting where the motion was discussed and resolved
  • They have paid their 2026.27 affiliation fee by 1st July
  • They will have someone present and willing to put the motion to the meeting, and a further person to second the motion
