Annual Meeting
ChALC Annual Meeting 17th October 2024
The 2024 Annual Meeting was held at the Canalside Conference Centre in Middlewich, and attended by 78 delegates representing some 49 councils.
Participants enjoyed an excellent buffet whilst networking with others and browsing the information stands : -
Guest Speaker
Andrew Maliphant, Environmental & Sustainability Advisor for the SLCC, spoke about Climate Action for Local Councils and provided examples of the initiatives that can be taken by town and parish councils to mitigate, adapt and recover nature. His presentation can be viewed HERE
Appointment of Board Members
In accordance with the Constitution, 3 Board members are required to step down in rotation and an election takes place. There were 7 nominees and those present were invited to select up to 3 candidates on the voting slip.

The successful candidates for 2024 are therefore Terry O'Neill , Cathy Murrayand David Rowlands
Setting of Affiliation Fees 2025-26
It was resolved by the meeting that there should be a 1% increase as follows:
- 39p per elector
- £39.00 minimum fee
- £1592.00 maximum fee
Motions
Motions can be submitted at any time from 1st April to the first Friday in July on the MOTION SUBMISSION FORM for consideration at the current year's Annual Meeting. Any Member Council wishing to put forward a motion to the Annual Meeting should ensure that: -
- They provide details of their council meeting where the motion was discussed and resolved
- They have paid their 2025.26 affiliation fee by 1st July
- They will have someone present and willing to put the motion to the meeting, and a further person to second the motion
