Could you be our next ChALC Executive Board Member?
Each year a quarter of the Board retires and the Annual Meeting votes for their preferred candidates. This is a great opportunity to work with other committed members on the Board of ChALC and you may nominate yourself as this is not a representative role for your council. Applications this year are particularly invited from those in the Warrington or Cheshire East areas. Interested individuals from member councils are invited to complete and submit a nomination form before Friday 3rd October, to be considered for election at the Annual Meeting.

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has partnered with the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Royal British Legion (RBL) in a powerful show of support for Remembrance parades and services across the country later this year. In a jointly signed letter, the three organisations call on parish and town councils to continue their invaluable role in honouring the nation's heroes. The letter expresses heartfelt thanks to parish and town councils for their enduring partnerships with RBL and other Armed Forces charities, which help keep the spirit of Remembrance alive in communities of all sizes.
Devolution is about national government transferring powers and resources away from London and into regions. It's not about merging councils or taking decisions away from councils. Individual councils would retain most of their responsibilities and continue to provide services for local people. Devolution would give our area greater control over how we are governed and resourced. Working with the three local authority council leaders, a regional Mayor will aim to promote more strategic and joined-up planning. Over the coming months, engagement work will be carried out with residents, communities, businesses and partner organisations across Cheshire and Warrington.
