The Cheshire Association of Local Council works with local councils to enhance and support the work they are doing in their communities.

Set out in the menu above are a number of initiatives and opportunities that might be of interest to local councils.

ChALC and NALC have provided model documents and legal topic notes highlighting the key points for local councils and offering support and advice on implementation.

Member councils wanting to know more or with queries still outstanding on these issues can contact the County Office at any time for assistance.

Member councils are also granted access to the NALC website where they may find other examples of development and community engagement that may be of interest. Please note that only ChALC member councils will be able to set up accounts and have access to the NALC members area.

Clerks may wish to join the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) which provides advice, guidance and a range of learning opportunities for both clerks and councillors. Qualifications include CiLCA and Community Governance which covers the ways in which people and organisations work together and independently, making decisions for the benefit of a local community. A range of qualifications are available awarded by De Montfort University (DMU), Certificate of Higher Education Level 4, Foundation Degree (Level 5), Honours Degree (Level 6) and MA in Public Leadership (Level 7)
