Training for councillors and clerks is provided by the Association for a variety of purposes. It is as true in Local Councils as it is in life that the only constant is change, therefore the continual development of councillors and clerks is as necessary as in any other area of employment. There are two types of training provided. Regular Training via the County Training Partnership (CTP) which is part of the National Training Strategy and provides standardised, quality training from a variety of providers. Secondly there are specialised training sessions about particular subjects. As these are less "regular" they will be placed on this page as and when necessary. Naturally, the Association is aware that few of the Local Councils can provide training on the scale of their District, Unitary or County Councils, hence the following programme has been developed to ensure that your council can keep abreast of developments, be aware of changes in the law and is operating legally.
